I've been a huge Rubio's fan for years. Rubio's food got me through my last pregnancy when no other food sounded appetizing. However, something is amiss at this location. They used to have AMAZING service. I mean, the kind of service that would bring you back even if the food didn't. The food used to be amazing too. Recently though, the service is terrible. They act like they couldn't care less about customers, or their jobs. The whole restaurant is dirty. When I came in this evening there wasn't one clean table. I had to get napkins and clean one myself. The bathroom was also filthy, with trash all over the floor. They were not busy, so that was not the reason. The salsa bar was dirty and empty. They have also switched from paper lined baskets for the food to glass plates, and real silverware. This would be ok, except the cleanliness was questionable, and all my food ran together and became soggy. They used to serve their beans in a cup, and chips in a little bag. Now, you get a lot less of both, and it is cold and soggy. Speaking of cold and soggy, my "fish" tacos were exactly that. I have no idea what they are dipping in the batter and dropping in the fryer, but it doesn't resemble any fish I've ever eaten. It's dark and mealy. There isn't enough of it in any part of the taco to call it a fillet. I'm heartbroken because I have always loved this place. Does anyone know what happened to the good Rubio's, and is it just this location, or have they all gone to pot?

We dropped by after work to just relax and Rubio's didn't disappoint. It's not our first time but we were a little hesitant with our orders. Probably it's because it's been a while. I went for their specials - seafood tacos and chopped salad while my wife ordered their balsamic and roasted veggie salad. Three of the four we ordered are great tasting food. Specially this seafood taco and the balsamic and roasted veggie salad. The tacos are really refreshing and tasted really fresh. My wife's salad is even better. Just right citrus flavor plus the roasted veggies really are the stars of the salad. Rubio's is a great fresh alternative. Fresh food and healthy choices.

I have been to this location a few times now and the food was fantastic both times. The fish tacos and tostadas are awesome--so fresh and flavorful. But, the wait was extremely long both times. I had two people in front of me last time and I waited 40 minutes for my to-go order. They are understaffed and don't work quickly. I'll be back if they'll improve their service.

We have been here 3 times and it's terrible every time - Rubio's is good, but this location is awful. This time (our last) they somehow lost our order after we have been waiting 20 minutes. We only came again because my wife got a free entree in the mail for her birthday, and, believe me, it's not worth it.

Their cashier is painful to deal with. Where'd the old management go with the great employees. Luckily the food is still great.

Super disappointed in this Rubio's. My last two trips here have been cold and gross. If it wasn't Rubio's,they would be dead to me. Going to give them one more shot.

Was stopping in to get a quick bite before the movie and they are taking forever. Walked in me didn't smell so hot but I was craving the shrimp tacos!! The girl at the register was slow and so were the cooks in the back ! They weren't even that busy. Fish tacos were pretty good though

The seafood tacos are delicious, but the service at this particular location isn't the best. My last two visits had a messed up order and a 30+ minute wait for my food.

Ordered flour tacos, Cashier was really rude about switching all tacos to flour. Only changed one. And charged me extra for it. Their ad says no extra cost to change to flour. So didn't even get the meal that I came there for, it doesn't take much effort on the Cashier side to be a little friendly.

Uhhh, the "fish" in the fish tacos was nothing but overfried batter. Pretty sure there was no fish in there at all. First time I've ever been here and definitely the last. What a waste of money.

Good food but...... Came on a Saturday night and there were only 3 people working! Waited 15 minutes in line then 30!!!! minutes for food to come. A lot of unhappy customers almost started a riot. And the place was a mess. Won't be back to this location.

The best fish tacos by far. Try the fish burrito. Delicious! I love all of the rubio's sauces. Excellant food! The best!

Food was good (same as other Rubios) but the operations were terrible. Very slow service.

I think that their food is pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's anything outstanding. Just some good, solid food that doesn't disappoint. They have a nice salsa bar that has a decent variety of salsas for whatever you might prefer. I recently started getting their bowls as a way to cut out the carbs from the flour and corn tortillas and they're quite delicious.

The food is great. The staff could use some work though. The man we ordered from was eating food as he was packaging up our order, and didn't smile once while taking our order. This was Sunday the 1st of March, in the afternoon.

Definitely go for the Mexican shrimp burrito. It's very delicious and filling. There has never been a line when we've gone in--at lunch or for a late dinner. My favorite salsa at the salsa bar is mixing one part jalapeño sauce with two parts tomatillo salsa. Hubby got the limited time only tropical fruit shrimp burrito and wasn't a fan. The Mexican shrimp burrito is where it's at.

I love this place. The first time I ate at Rubio's was in the 90's in So Cal. I was sad when we moved from there to Utah because no Rubio's. This is just great that they are here now. Really tasty quasi Baja/Americanized tacos and what not. Try all the different items though, because the fish tacos are good but there are better items on the menu. I can't recommend enough if you want something different, fresh, and inexpensive. Now if they would just open one in St. George 'cause I always gotta' wait until I'm heading to SLC to get my fix!

I had high hopes for this restaurant, not necessary this place. Being an east coaster, we don't get good fish tacos or decent Mexican food. This chain came as a recommendation from someone in our party, who had lived in Texas for many years, now a New Yorker. This was our planned last stop before heading to the airport. Arrived perhaps 15-20 minutes before closing, the "kids" served us happily. They weren't allowed to sell beer, supposedly because they were under 21 and the manager has left. I thought it was just okay. Its just some fish in a taco, with some cabbage and other stuff. There were no distinguishing flavors. The sauces were pretty bland too.

We love Rubio's. We go there easily once a week. The employees are always extremely friendly and the food never disappoints. My sister who lives in Virginia was in town and we took her to Rubio's for her first time. She had a pan seared salsa verde shrimp taco and said that it was the best taco she ever had! They truly are to die for.

Always tasty food. They were busy on Wednesday and out of a few things. We came back on Friday and Helena recognized us from Wednesday, apologized for their previous craziness and comped our meal, which was a pleasant surprise.

The food in general is decent, but the shrimp/bacon tacos are awesome.

This place used to be a lot better, until they jacked up the prices and cut the quantity and quality. It used to be you could buy shrimp tacos that were bursting at the seams with shrimp, now you're lucky to be able to find any shrimp under the pile of cabbage. What once was a favorite of mine has become a has-been. Oh well.

Fell in love with the fish tacos this summer. Definitely higher quality than a typical fast food joint. I ate there a couple times per week. Today I tried their chicken nachos. Yummy! The red rice and salsa bar are also delicious. And I can't say enough about how fun and friendly the employees are if you joke around with them a little.

I don't go here that often anymore because the food isn't on my diet plan, but yesterday I broke down. I am a pretty big fan of their fish tacos and had the salmon tacos again. Also got the nachos and they were just OK, but the fish taco are great here and remind me of Hawaii. I'll be back when I can and suggest it to everyone!

Love Rubios! Hit it up for lunch about once a week. The prices are a little high, but the food is awesome. p.s. Try a churro.... you won't regret it!

Solid fish tacos. Awesome salsa bar. Fastfood with beer in the cooler. Try the 2 taco especial and the dark looking salsa (chipotle?) We eat there often.

I love it here. Their gourmet tacos are some of the best "fresh" tacos around. You will pay a little more than you would at Del Taco, or Taco Time, but the quality is better.
(4)
Dennis W.
Even though this place is a large chain, their "world famous fish tacos" are really good. The price isn't bad and is comparable to Costa Vida and Cafe Rio. This specific location has been really good except the last two times I've been there, they've put a little too much sauce on their tacos making them runny and soggy, not the way they should be.

I LOVE Rubio's. I especially love them on Tuesdays after 2:30 when the fish tacos are $1.50 :) I really haven't tried much besides the fish tacos. Visited Rubio's again and our experience was very different then our first visit. The food was bland and the staff was not trained. Took forever to place our order that the customer behind us left. It was like one guy training four new employees. Everyone was very nice and apologetic but there must have been a big change in management and staffing since our last visit. On a positive note, the fish was not fishy.

I've been going to Rubio's for their fish tacos and burritos for years. It's also good to know that their fish is just as tasty in Utah as it is in California. Unfortunately, the last few times I've gone, there has always been that one thing that kind of messes up the whole good vibes experience. The last time I went, it was the 20+ minute wait to get our food. (To give them credit, they recognized their fault and gave us coupons for four free fish tacos!) The time before that, my usual (the Tilapia Burrito) was completely off. The wrapping was shoddy, the fish less than fresh--the whole burrito's dynamic was screwy. Despite these foibles, eating at Rubio's is far more often a joyous experience than not. I am giving it four stars because I love the atmosphere, the food is almost always really tasty, and it reminds me of a place that is not a desert.

The food is very good, service was ok. I like the fact that everything was very fresh and made to order. I do have a complaint. I asked for one of the beers that were for purchase and the guys said he needed to go get his manager (he's under age and I totally get it) she came out from her office (also looking under age) and didn't say a word. Buddy had to come from behind her and say that they couldn't sale me alcohol today because no one was of age. That being said, I looked just behind both the shift manager and buddy and there were two people of age That could have given us the beer. Not getting confrontational with them we gladly took our cups for Coke and enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately because of the value difference in drinking alcohol and not, we will not be visiting here again.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
